Church Reopening and Daily Bread
Two Rivers Church · 36:23
This video opens with a discussion of the church's phased return to in-person gatherings. In May, people are encouraged to gather in groups. In June, the church will encourage watch parties in homes. In July, campuses will reopen with reduced capacity, no kids or student ministries, and family worship, while online services will continue. In August, kids programming will restart, and services will return to a more normal scenario. This plan will be available on the church's website by the weekend. The speaker then reflects on the challenges of preaching to a camera, noting the difficulty of not receiving cues from a live audience. He shares an illustration he failed to connect in a previous sermon, which was meant to convey that "we only know people as well as we invest in the relationship," referencing Jesus' statement "my sheep hear my voice." He also mentions a time he misstated the definition of "prophetic," confusing "foretelling" with "foreseeing." The conversation shifts to bread-making, inspired by a friend named Bruce Wagner. The speaker describes making bread with three ingredients (water, bread flour, yeast, and a touch of salt) and its short shelf life due to a lack of preservatives, connecting it to the concept of "daily bread" and the verse "man cannot live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." The church is giving away eight loaves of bread, and viewers can comment "bake that bread" to claim one. The speaker also discusses his daughter's wedding planning, which is proceeding despite current uncertainties, and mentions other church activities like community prayer, "Word with the Pastors," and interviews with global workers. The current sermon series, "I Am Who I Am," continues for a few more weeks.
